Missouri Torchbearers’ Scholarship
Scholarship History
The Missouri Torchbearers' Endowment was established by the Missouri State Counsel Past Presidents, the Torchbearers, April 24, 2002. The first scholarship was awarded in 2007.
Lou Eckhardt, past Missouri State Council President, was instrumental in encouraging the Torchbearers to establish an endowment. After becoming a part of the ESA Foundation Scholarship processing team, Lou saw first hand the great need for additional endowments. The Torchbearers agreed and engaged in fund raising activities at the Missouri State Council meetings.
The Melvin and Anne Tracy Endowment was established by Anne Tracy and the Missouri State Council July 1985. This endowment was in honor of Anne, a past Missouri State Council President and her husband Melvin. The first scholarship was awarded in 1987. April 5, 2010 the endowment merged with the Missouri Torchbearers Endowment.
The Lauretta Roberts Endowment was established by the Roberts Family and the Past State Presidents of Missouri State Council, the Torchbearers, February 27, 1990. The first scholarship was awarded in 1993. This endowment was established in honor of Lauretta, a past Missouri State Council President and past International Council President. May 23, 2010 the endowment merged with the Missouri Torchbearers Endowment.
