Oklahoma Western District Scholarship
Scholarship History

Oklahoma Council DIstricts II and IV endowments were merged in 2018.

The Oklahoma District II Endowment was established by District II of Oklahoma, December 4, 2002. The first scholarship was awarded in 2008.

The state of Oklahoma ESA Chapters, are geographically divided into four districts. Each District has a set of officers and supports a Philanthropic Project.

In 2002, six chapters hosted the Oklahoma State Convention. Upon the conclusion of this event a profit was realized. It was decided that instead of dividing the money six ways, an Endowment would be started through the ESA Foundation.

It takes $5000 to endow the fund and more to award a scholarship. Needless to say the chapters were far from their goal. So the work began to fulfill the task before them.

Over the next several years lunches were provided at meetings and the profit was donated. Silent Auctions were organized for each gathering. Plus, the chapters voted to give a yearly donation from their own fund-raisers. Individual members joined in and the fund began to grow. The ladies and gentlemen toiled on and the end was soon in sight.

It was a proud day for those Oklahoma ESA Chapters when the first scholarship was awarded. The endowment is now being maintained in the same manner. It is the hope that every effort will be made to keep this Endowment viable and available to help students prepare for a better future.

The Oklahoma Council District IV Endowment was established as the Oklahoma Council District IV / Dana Chase Honorarium Endowment by District IV of Oklahoma State Council, February 1, 1992.  In 2002 the endowment was changed to its current name.  The first scholarship was awarded in 1994.

The endowment was started as a result of the hard work by the chapters that make up District IV of Oklahoma State Council.  Those chapters are:  Beta Rho#1270 and Delta Epsilon#2091, Del City; Beta Mu #606, Lawton; Alpha Kappa #1005 and Delta Chi #1637, Midwest City; Delta Kappa #3538, Norman; Zeta Epsilon #4614, Seminole, and Zeta Gamma #4253, Shawnee.

The profits from the 1992 Oklahoma State Convention, which was chaired by Dana Chase, and hosted by the chapters of District IV, started the endowment.    District IV contributes each year to the endowment, and, of course, encourages members of the district and Oklahoma State Council to also contribute.

District IV also supports the Greiner School for the Handicapped in Lawton with monies and supplies that the school requests.
