Charles Foy Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship History
The Charles H. Foy Jr. Endowment was established by Anna S. Foy October 25, 2005. The first scholarship was awarded in 2007.
This endowment was started as a memorial to Charlie Foy. Charlie grew up on the sands of the Chesapeake Bay near the Lasner Bridge in Virginia Beach, VA. He joined the army in 1959 and was assigned to the airborne division where among other things he did parachute testing, jumping out of ‘perfectly good’ airplanes.
He is an Old Dominion University graduate in business. He started his business career as a stockbroker and moved quickly into sales and marketing in real estate.
Charlie has been the founder of many successful business enterprises throughout his life. He has been a stockbroker, real estate salesman and broker, home builder, developer, jewelry store owner and pawn broker, owner and creator of a weight loss system and owned a very successful referral marketing business.
Charlie became a highly regarded motivational speaker and mentored many young people in the ways of building their own businesses.
He is remembered for his business trend forecasting and taking advantage of many opportunities to build new businesses. He was a very honest businessman and encouraged all of his associates and mentees to be honest in their dealings with others.
Because he was so interested in developing young entrepreneurs, this endowment will go a long way to fulfill his desire to help young people become as successful as he was.
