Alice / Jeanne Wagner Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship History

The Alice and Jeanne Wagner Endowment was established in February, 1987. The first scholarship was awarded in 1987.

Alice and Jeanne Wagner were mother and daughter, both having been born in Cleveland, Ohio. After moving to Phoenix in 1947 and 1949, they joined the Alpha Sigma Chapter #354 of ESA International. Jeanne became a registered nurse while in Cleveland, and also served in the US Army for five years. She was a past state president of the Arizona State Council of ESA International and served on the International Council of ESA as a past Philanthropic Chair and DIANA Chair.

The Wagner’s became members of the ESA Foundation as a result of their affiliation with ESA. Alice served the ESA Foundation as the Arizona State Counselor for several years. Jeanne presented her mother with the ESA Foundation’s most prestigious Dixie Palmer Lady Award in 1984.

Alice and Jeanne Wagner continued to find ways to honor their mother / daughter relationship by helping others through their philanthropic endeavors. They wanted to honor each other in an everlasting tribute and help nursing students achieve their academic goals.

Alice passed away on March 13, 1990 and Jeanne passed away January 10, 2005.
